fat man needs suggestions for jogging music

past useful discs:

clutch: self titled
GF: Pure--one the the more perfect--starts out upbeat to get ass moving, then moves into monotremata/don't bring terriotry for sustained running trance
gojira: from mars to sirius

any other suggestions?

Scorn: the White Irises Blind EP remixes ///
I used to walk around town at night with this in my walkman (we still had tapes when i was younger Wink ) and it was the perfect soundtrack for late-late-night-deserted streets.
That said, I am not really fat tho. But I wasn't running either.

Idea

I ran a marathon in 2003 and the disks which helped were:

Streetcleaner / Us and Them
DRI - any
Iron Maiden - any (probably good for horse riding too)
Derek and Clive - it just works
Einsturzende Neubauten - Kollaps / Kalte Sterne
Faith No More - Introduce Yourself
DJ Shadow - Entroducing
Merzbow - Aquanecromancer
The Germs - MIA
Black Flag - any
Minor Threat
Amon Duul II - Yeti

Avoid:
Swans.

LOL!

I don't jog, but I reckon God's "On All Fours" would lead to you going on a GTA style rampage if it came on while you were hitting the pavement!

GTA: VC is the greatest GTA, even better if you use the mp3-player thing.

I recommend CURSE OF THE GOLDEN VAMPIRE's "Mass Destruction" for running. Either that or KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN's "Mikrophone I". QUOIT is good too.

I would recommend "Mass Destruction", if you're running from someone or if you need to save your life sniggering

Yeah, you say that now ... but do you have Liberty City Stories on the PSP?

I mean, stealing a tank from the Yakuza, and then using said tank to get a dozen "vigilante" missions in a row while fobbing off the FBI and other Rhino's and then getting a 50% armour bonus, while on your lunch hour ... that's pretty damn cool Smile

Yay Video Games!!!!

I can't believe you guys still play GTA3 in any incarnation. 1 was enough for me.

If you like the look of that game and you've never played it, you should try out Freedom Fighters, it's got the same overall feel and look as GTA3 but is 1000 times better as an action game. The concept is horrendous (America getting attacked by Russians, yawn) but the gameplay is among the best I've ever tried. You can get it cheap now too, like 5 or 10 bucks used.

Right now, I'm playing Red Dead Revolver, a super fun cowboy shooter from Rockstar, and I'm re-immersing in Half Life 2 after a hiatus. Got Prince of Persia 3 on the burner as well, it's supposed to be a lot of fun...

All on original Xbox. Fuck that new 360 system at the price they want - the only thing that's improved or changed is the graphics, the games are NO better or any kind of conceptual upgrade at all IMO.

I've got it for the Gamecube, one of the best games I played in quite some time. A real sleeper hit, totally underrated. The story is horrendous but it's so cheesy that it's cool, especially that speech in the TV building.

Didn't play Liberty City on PSP don't own one, only have the GTA's for the PC with VC being my favourite. SA was good too but the atmosphere wasn't as good as VC.

At the moment I'm playing:
WWE: Day Of Reckoning 2
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Mafia

And not to forget, the graphics improvements are only noticed if you actually have an HD tv hooked up..

I dont think I ever played GTA3.. I finally broke down years ago and bought the GTA Directors Cut with the first one and that London Expansion, that WOULDNT RUN on Windows 2000 and I bought my first Mac right after and said fuck it..

That game was damn fun though!!

Eh Ive been spending waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time playing World of Warcraft lately hehe.

the real lesson here to screw exercise and fire up the old game machine while stuffing my gob with generous amounts of Andy Capp Hot Fries.

I want to get me that new Lego Star Wars for me Cube.

And before you call me gay, let me just tell you it's supposed to have dope co-op play. Meaning I can get my game fix AND spend quality time with the lady of the house at the same time. And there's no arguing with that.

He is wrong. Both, San Andreas and Liberty City Stories are awesdome and this comes from a guy whos played tem all... Where he is not wrong though is about Freedom Fighters being an excellent game. (but it's definitely not in the same genre as GTA). IO are now working on a new IP that looks every bit as good as FF and then some.

I cycle a lot and music I listen to includes:
*abba - any random ones apart from 'dancing queen' and 'waterloo'. the sad break-up songs are the best
*godflesh (us and them)
*solvent 'solvent city'
*young gods 'young gods' (good for going up epic hills and being sehr dramatische!)
*madonna - anything from True Blue back (apart from 'who's that girl') (DO NOT LAUGH)
*adult. 'resusitation' (can't spell)
*stereolab 'emperor tomato ketchup'
*big black 'songs about fucking'
*public enemy 'it'll take a nation...'
*random Sylvester songs
*the Boomkat mix-cd's by Team Shadatek or Modeselektor

You saw that new game "Saint's Row" or something like that? Lot of people find it better than GTA, haven't played it enough but it's a good game as far as I can judge.

About Freedom Fighters, it reminds me of Hitman, but without the sneaking, which isn't weird because it's the same team that made the Hitman-games that made FF.

I loved the Hitman games! Has anyone tried Hitman: Blood Money?

Stealth gaming is something that has to be appreciated and then left alone for awhile, the suspense is great but the repetition kills it if you play too much...

Yeah, I also try to dose it, after a while you get a massive overkill with it.
Bought the Hitman collection for 10 euros a while ago, Hitman 1, 2 & 3 in it. Great stuff. Now to be able to play Blood Money without my computer getting stuck ...

Phew, I'm glad that the discussion has slowly shifted from jogging to video games. Razz

I havent played this in a long time, but might be interest to some:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rez

Quote:
Marketing information for the game at the time of its release focused on its qualities of "synesthesia," the association of different senses and stimuli with each other, which is a sensation experienced naturally by some people, and reported by many users of LSD and other hallucinogens. In Rez, one's character soars over psychedelic, abstract, futuristic vistas to the hypnotic beats of electronic music.

The game is tightly integrated with sight and sound; a thumping vibration in the Dual Shock 2 controller or Dreamcast rumble packs keeps time with the music, and literally every onscreen action, from missile locking, firing, and exploding to the pulsing of the landscape and the player's avatar themselves, synchronizes with the beat. As the player progresses further into a level, the music becomes more layered and intense, as do the visuals.

Also with an vibrator add-on! Dont ask. Just stick it in...

...to your PS2. Naughty, Naughty mind.
