Skullflower! Z'ev & Mick Flower! Gnod! In the middle of a forest in the Lake District!
we were talking with them about playing that...but couldn't get work permits sorted out. stupid UK.
What the fuck? Canada, Great Britain, members of the Commonwealth. If I can move freely within a United Europe and work without any actually need to do ANYTHING, how the fuck can the UK not just let you in to play a gig.

Don't listen to the cultist, Aidan! You'll find yourself in the woods past Dunwich being fed to a hungry shoggoth before you can say "Ia Shub-Niggurath, Black Goat of the Woods With A Thousand Young!"
Being Commonwealth members doesn't mean squat. We used to sneak into the UK fine, but now that the Home Office has my fingerprints, that's no longer possible.
Though we too wondered about the accommodation for that event...we were told we'd get to sleep in a yurt...
what aiden said about the yurt made me think of this
coming up
vnv nation in october woo
machine head darkest hour an couple other bands im not bothered bout

Not had the money for many gigs for a while, last one was Godflesh @ Glasgow (unless you count Anvil)....so after an offer of crashing at a mates house I feel Damnation Featival may be on the cards. It goes without saying that Godflesh is the reason for going but also Doom and would be interested in seeing Ulver. Ain't heard any of the others. Happy dayz (possably)
Yes. The truthiest truth right there. How was Earth?
I dug it. I didn't know the work at all before the show and left wanting to go out and pick up some releases--so you can take that for what it's worth.
Tomorrow - Helms Alee, Akimbo, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth (Tad's new band), and Norska, in Seattle.
How is Helms Alee? I heard some stuff on their myspace page which I liked--there's some melvins and pixies in there...
Next Fri - Neko Case!!!!!!
awesome...would love to see her again
Neurosis, Grails, Akimbo and Yob. On the same fucking bill. On the same night...
I'm gonna pay dearly for that much enjoyment.
Farewell and adieu you fair Spanish ladies, farewell and adieu you ladies of Spain...
(from Jaws and always comes to mind when someone is off to their doom)
As for Earth, check out Hex and Bees Made Honey. Then check out the new one, Angels and Demons and Hibernaculum. All top notch. Pentastar is great as well. I'm not so much into the older droney stuff. S'ok. The new stuff is where it's at.
Really though, the live stuff is the best. Live Hex, Radio Earth and Live Europe. All fantastic. And there's a ton of boots from the last few years that are top notch. I find myself listening to those more than the studio albums.
Helms Alee fucking rules. Full stop. The new album came out last week. I like it alot but not as much as Night Terror yet. I will say this. You are right about the Melvins and Pixies influences. I will also say that both albums are growers. Took me a while with Night Terror to be as into it as I am. I would start there and give it a while. Let it sink in slowly. Seriously one of the best newish bands around.
Last show was when I went to see Swans last May. I just noticed that King Midas Sound are playing a free show in Helsinki this Saturday. So going! Thinking about seeing Low in August, and there's Godflesh in September which is me seeing mr. Brodders live for the first time.
this sunday got random hand, some punk ska, mainly cos a mates band is supporting, then monday cavalera conspiracy, mainly because EVERYONE i know is going (and i'm still on a really bad come-down after hellfest), didn't bother with them in hellfest and amazingly i hear they didn't play troops of doom. what's the world coming to?
ah and i've just found Terror are in manchester on tuesday, only been a couple of weeks since i've seen them so time for another dose of "positive aggression. and more stage dives"

Mark at a Terror show would be one of the MOST entertaining things you could ever see.
but i've admitted to defeat to Terror already, with them having taken the sacrifice of one of my ribs in january. i shall maintain a healthy self preservation mode this time round.
maybe

Fuck me, I've just noticed that I will be missing Swans play on july 15th..for FREE....
I'll be at that "dour" festival thing so I won't be seeing them. On the plus side, I'll be entertained by Neurosis and Mogwai amongst others on the same dday...still a bit bummed by this.
KTL (played on a backstage in a theatre, imagine you're surrounded by starting helicopters, accousticly & physically, i think this was the most intense show i ever witnessed ... even more intense than Lustmord in a domed hall, where you could lean yourself onto the sound!!! ...]
Swans (after the "intro" i stated that most bands aren't able to end a show, like the Swans had started this one...big respect!!!)
AUN
Clock DVA | TAGC
Lustmord (DRONE)
Eraldo Bernocchi (fine set with some ambient and some SIMM stuff in it)
Inade
Last night Unsane. Ruined by 3 horrible opening bands and not enough bass. Still good though.
Man, that heavy metal support band were truly pathetic, utters baws to say the least.
Agree that the bass was a little too quiet in the mix as well as the vocals, however it was clear that Unsane really enjoyed the gig, as did I. So much energy and power from all 3 of them. Ears are still ringing, neck and shoulders still ache
I had NO desire AT ALL to go out that night. And they're playing here with Neurosis in Sept. And probably sometime soon after that. They live here. Mostly.
Earth last night was majestic. They sounded wonderful. A little bit sloppy at first but they got through it. The current line up is great. LOVE the way the cello sits with Dylan's guitar. The older stuff sounds great in that format. They played a new song. Was killer. New album in Oct. YAS! I was totally in a trance the whole set. Watching Adrienne play is mesmerizing. And both Dylan and Adrienne look really healthy, lost a lot of weight. That's a good sign.
A meager 150 people attending but all of them crazy about the band. The setlist was mainly the last two albums (Skinflower and Kissing The Sun being the only exceptions if I remember correctly). It was all very electronic and hypnotic. Quite different from the last two times I have seen them.
At first the band seemed somewhat disappointed that there were so few people in the venue, but after they realized that those people were totally psyched about seeing the band, they had tons of fun. We even got one unplanned encore, I think.
