Looks like JMA is trying to pinch a particularly stubborn loaf in a few of those pics. I hate that when you really need to go in the middle of a gig....

That white Strat still cracks me up.

Looks like JKB has changed his floor effects, can't find a decent picture though so I'll just have to guess until I do :/

Nice to see some thing never change, like JMA's lovely head, and Josh's bluish-green complexion. Great pics, dudes. Looks like you had a heck of a time.

doomy claimed he was gonna do a review but we all know he's a twonkbite so don't count on it...

here is my review it was FUCKIN GREAT! dead head and tiny tears could have been left off setlist and insert LIADFH or Devastator/Mighty Trust Krusher or another track from selfless

Sound system sounded great. Benny and JKB both played tight. the crowd was totally into it.

I hope both JKB and Benny appreciate that 'Merica loves Godflesh. and they come back soon.

I am sure whoever saw & heard GF that night and wasn't a fan is now a fan. Absolute solid performance...and i shouldn't forget Machine...Machine's beat were solid and dead on balls accurate...Machine played like...a machine

i should add that the US Alanch crew that represented is solid too

Deadhead is one of my very favorite Godflesh tracks. So, remind me to stab you in the eye the next time we meet.

I don't have much of a review for the festival as a whole. The main 2 things I was aiming to do was to hang out with board guys and see Godflesh, both of which were great.

Highlights for me:

March of death under the unrelenting Baltimore sun to a record store with Doom and Dar. (barely making it to a way station bar on the way back)

noting girls in Bathory tshirts like scrubby fallen valkyries

Hanging out, wandering around and talking trash with all these guys here for a couple of days. This was the bulk of the time.

Godflesh, of course. In particular, Avalanche Master Song, Deadhead and Slateman.

I dunno. I just recall laughing a whole lot and being completely awed on how good Godflesh sounds all these years later. Live Jesu shows didn't exactly do a lot for me, so hearing GF sounding so huge and great was pretty fucking cool.

how's that for a crappy review?

Also-I even bailed on Unsane after Godflesh and was reading my book and rehydrating back at the hotel before midnight, teeth brushed and feet up like a wild death metal warrior of old.

Here is my (short) review, because I am too lazy to write a real one.

My wife and I met with Klawful, Darwin, Doomie and Josh at a (metal?) bar called Sidebar.
It was great finally meet them. Great guys. A bit disapointed that:
a- Klawful doesn't carry around a giant sword or axe
b- Doomie is not a giant 8ft tall metal warrior, and he doesn't have a beard right now.
c- Josh wasn't wearing his yogi outfit
Drank more beers there, and then headed to the festival, which was a couple of blocks away.
Macabre was playing when we arrived. I used to be a big fan and then I stopped following their release for some reason. The set seemed enjoyable even tho the sound was a bit crappy.
More beers was had.
Napalm Death played on the same stage, and I watched them for a bit, but same crappy sound (basically you could only hear drums and Barney). Mitch Harris cut his hair and looks like a poodle.
Then we decided to move to the other outdoor stage where Godflesh was to perform at. It was already a bit crowded. Watched the guys do their soundcheck.
Lost Josh who was too cool to hang out with us but who got heckled at bad by Doomie.
Godflesh started to play. Massive sound. The videos didn't work until 3rd or 4th song. A very old school set (reminded me when I saw them on the Selfless tour in 95). You can tell that they've been playing a few festivals since Hellfest because they play a very tight game. Benny bass sounded massive (but I was on his side).
Had to bailed from the front 3 or 4 songs before the end because I couldn't breathe anymore. Watched the rest from the back, which was nice and a bit different.
After the set, met up with the rest of the avalanchers (except Klawful, who I thought went to party backstage with the guys of Artillery)
Walked around, looked at the unofficial merchandising (funny to see some bootlegged Napalm Death tshirts when they were playing the same day)
Caught most of the set of Unsane, which was excellent. By then, I was drunk and moving a bit like a maniac with another guy I didn't know. During "scrape" some big redneck guy threw his whiskey and coke on me and called me a faggot, but hey, if you want to comfortably watch a show from the 2nd row, stay home and buy the DVD.
I didn't recognize the guy who was drumming for Unsane, but he did a very good job. Tight set.
After that, we decided to leave, and went back to the Sidebar for a last beer and a chat.
The next day, we caught up with Josh and Klawful and had a nice lunch (thanks again, Matt) and walked in the sun around the harbor in Baltimore.

My favorite part of the trip was hanging out with the other Avalanchers...the booze and laughter flowed the entire time...it was great to finally meet Jean-Michel after all these years and I'm very glad he brought along his lovely wife,Sherrie(hope that spelling is correct)...he has a keeper there...everyone was so much fun to hang out with...

Darwin,Klaw and Josh continue to be great friends and I look forward to more hang time with all of them...never did meet up with any other avalanchers, not sure how that happened...the entire thing was just a whirlwind of movement and fun...

Godflesh were just immense...the setlist was fantastic and the sound was just huge...GC's bass is still reverberating through my internal organs...JKB's voice was better than I could have ever imagined...I saw the show from about 10 different vantage points as I moved about the venue...the overall sound was superb...I was sure I was going to have a heart attack on a couple of occasions...especially during Avalanche Master Song and Christbait Rising...the sound was just monolithic...I ran into Jean-Michel in the back of the venue for the encores and we rocked the fuck out together during Slateman...great times...not sure what else to say except that GF far exceeded my expectations and if the spirit and energy they brought that night is an indication of what a new GF album might consist of then bring that fucker on!!!!!!!

The fest was run pretty well, all things considered and Unsane were really fucking good also by the way...just heavy and unrlenting...pulverizing stuff...the inside venue has a sharp, crisp sound and they utilized it to the fullest extent...excellent set...Napalm Death was just a flurry of fucking noise hahaha...I enjoyed it though...Klaw and I bailed out a bit early to get over to GF...if GF goes back next year then I will be there again...aside from that I'm not to keen to head back to Maryland...I had to use all my strength to tear Darwin away from Gay Street(he really felt at home there)...

All in all an outstanding trip and a very fun time...great people, great vibe, great GF set...I couldn't have asked for a smoother trip...nonetheless with all this being said Josh,of course,is still a twonk....

Good day,sir's....

it's good to see the twonkness can still remain even after a bit of comradery

as to blackmark: please send a brochure detailing your camp's program and amenities. i don't like running around all that much or getting hot in general, but i do like gluing googly eyes to rocks and projects that involve pipe cleaners.
