and the Millers is very funny indeed... |

Maps to the Stars....I really dislike this film...ok,let me re-phrase that...I fucking hated it!!!! Man,as a long time Cronenberg devotee it is very upsetting to see such a decline in the quality of his movies...the last couple before this one were so boring I can't even remember the names of them...for some reason he has become enamored with that Twilight dude and I have no idea why...that guy is so one dimensional and lame...I really hope Cronenberg has a great film left in him but as of now it seems he is on a steady descent...
The Yoga Pansy has informed me the man has a book out and I will check that out because despite Joshy-boy being a massive twonk he does have good taste when it comes to art...but he is still,of course.............................
a twonk |

The Cronenberg book is called "Consumed" and I loved it.
My taste is impeccable and I'm glad DoomBride recognizes the obvious truth despite his constant slanderous Twonk accusations. |

Some more I watched recently:
Behind the mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon. Very similar to Man Bites Dog, which did it miles better and funnier.
House of 1000 Corpses: Not seen this before for some reason. Pretty messed up, but Sid Haig was entertaining in it.
Naked Gun 33 1/3: Oldie, not as funny as the first one
Airplane: Still very funny
Zombeavers: Not even `so bad it's funny', just bad.
Maniac: Reminded me a lot of Henry, Portrait of a serial killer. |

'71. Absolutely mind blowing. So much tension. Best film I have seen in quite some time. |

The original of course. I really dislike most remakes.
Also watched Cabin in the woods. Not bad but the awful over the top ending really ruined the entire movie for me. |

A tale of 2 sisters. Gorgeous, sad, bloody South Korean `horror'. One of the best films i've seen this year. |

Listen Up Philip
Caustic, nasty, often very funny misanthropic black comedy from Alex Ross Perry. Definitely recommended.
Also watched my Criterion BluRay of Costa-Gavras' State of Siege. Great political thriller from the early 70s. Weird to see a movie set in Latin America in French but it's a totally fascinating movie. |

Sicario. Nail-bitingly intense, very dark and stylized. I loved it. |

Knock Knock - simultaneously awful and great fun. Keanu Reeves is his usual terrible self and the plot (what there is of one) is one huge plot hole. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was.
It's worth watching for all the dj'ing bits (cringe) |

I like Keanu a lot more these days...I loved John Wick, great brain dead action/revenge flick...I even like the horrible Keanu of old...there is something pure about his dopey aura....I also hear he is one of the nicest and most genuine people in Hollywood...he recently narrated an Alex Winter(his Bill and ted co-star)doc about the Deep Web and the Silk Road trial...fascinating stuff...he is involved in lot's of interesting stuff...I know he is a punch line but I am firmly on Team Keanu... |

Yeah - his movies are alway worth a watch. John Wiick was awesome alright and I even liked 47 Ronin.
For some reason I always give him the benifit of the doubt. |

I like Keanu. 47 Ronin was really strange. I fucking hate Eli Roth, but his movies are like a car wreck I can't avoid looking at, against my better judgment, so I'll probably eventually see both Knock Knock and his cannibal rip-off Green Inferno.
I just saw Incendies, by the director of Sicario. Really intense shit. Definitely recommended. |

what I seen at abertoir festival this year, recommend all
They look like humans - serious, intense and really well acted psychological stuff, about mental friends…
Tales of Halloween - collection of tales from different directors, funny and twisted, really nicely interlinked
Ninja war of torakage - less sick splatter than usual from Tokyo gore police director, yet still hilarious stupid insanity, only from japan
Hollow - Vietnamese, really beautifully filmed, mix of spookiness and reality horrors
From the short films collection
Sister hell - Norwegian, simply amazing, ticking all the OTT metalhead boxes
Vintage blood - great laughs from dialogue and simple warped british reality |

Entertainment - very weird, more than a hint of Lync. Enjoyed it.
The Innkeepers - meh. Standard haunted house crap.
The Sacrament - meh. Standard Jonestown crap.
Birdman - Very good.
Sound CIty - really not a fan of most of the music, but a lovingly made documentary.
Knock Knock - a mediocre take on Funny Games. Keanu still cant act. |

Those Belgians know how to make intense movies. Ex Drummer for example. And Man bites Dog although that had me in stitches occasionally. |

for sure, man bites dog came to mind. that scene, post "home invasion", if it wasn't in black and white it would have been banned i reckon.
may have mentioned it before, but Calvaire is another really nasty piece of belgium work. |

Yup it's intense. I really enjoyed it though, it's based on the semi autobiography by Herman Brusselmans who is a very funny and very dark writer. |

The Editor. Tries way to hard to be a bad seventies movie and fails miserably. |

Night of the living Deb. Shaun of the dead it ain't but surprisingly entertaining for a zombie movie.
Spring. A love story with a twist...
Antibirth. Not sure if that was the worst movie ever or something brilliant....Very unlikeable characters (but brilliantly acted) and a messed up ending. It had some good Lynch meets Cronenberg bits though. http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/antibirth-2016
Gozu. Takeshi Miike. Nuff said. Somehow Spoonman by Soundgarden is now playing in my head...The last scene was pretty much the same as Antibirth.
Sausage Party. crude, but some funny jokes. Lots of moralising about religion... |
