So I saw the concert in Stockholm.
And if anyone is interested I loved it, but then again I think the album is great. They played the whole album in order (which took 2 hours!!) and then as an encore they did Elliot Smiths Condor Ave and David Bowies Win from Young Americans. Both Mark and Justin were in great moods and joked and even jammed a version of War Pigs that if rehearsed could have been great.
Mark talked from the stage about how Justin was a real rockstar since everyone in the band had notes on what to play (they had not had any time at all to rehearse) and Justin did not need any. He also praised Justin for not having pedals. Mark said he hated guitarists with pedalboards and that when he played with Godflesh he saw that Justin only had one pedal and that he for tonight only had three of which one was a tuner.
Anyway for those who cares, Justin played his 7 string through a old Vox amp and created some amazingly distorted riffs and some cool ambient sounds.
Duh, Vox's rule. My 15 watt AC15 is louder than my 50 watt JCM800 and takes an HM-2 even better!! But in all seriousness, its JKB.. He can play anything and he's still going to sound like JKB.. Thats just how real guitar players do it.. He only had three pedals the last time Godflesh came through here a few months ago. One was a tuner, one was a distortion and one was a delay.. Pretty sure he doesn't need more than that and hasn't ever used more than that.. Glad to hear the show was good, Id imagine live is a lot better than the record, thats how it should be. I don't think they're coming anywhere near California for this one so Ill have to wait till Godflesh comes around again probably.
