I don't see why not, both the release date and blurb match up with what the man's been teasing about. Norman store is very legit and it's not the first time a JKB record's distro info is entered before actual promo. Every time it's been a real release. |

Sure looks legit...seems like a strange thing to make a hoax out of anyway...nonetheless I can't find one single other mention of it on the web...odd,indeed... |

I'm still not in love with the last record but the remixes or dub versions I'm fond of.
Has anyone read "Darkness" by Lord Byron?
Seems to be the influence. So dark. |

Just found this on a Justin fan Tumblr:
http://jkflesh.tumblr.com/
First details with a pre-order of the next Godflesh album “Post Self” appeared on Norman Records. Release date in November. Stay tight for a press release and ordering directly from the artists’ label.
Over 2 years in the making, ‘Post Self’ explores the less 'metal’ side of Godflesh; taking in the formative influences, and spitting out something more informed by late 70’s early 80’s post punk and industrial than it is anything metal related.
Thematically personal and obsessive, exploring anxiety, depression, fear, mortality, and family relationships (Mother / Father).
AREC040VC - Limited edition white vinyl version. 1000 copies worldwide.
Post Self
Parasite
No Body
Mirror Of Finite Light
Be God
The Cyclic End
Pre Self
Mortality Sorrow
In Your Shadow
The Infinite End |

I completely disagree. I think the last album was one of the best. |

I don't really give a shit if anyone did or didn't like the last GF album but if you didn't, I am curious as to why you didn't....its not like it was some big departure in sound or approach...I saw them on that tour and they were as heavy and monolithic as always...what would you have had them do differently? It was GF doing what they do.... |

To be fair there were 3 songs I thought were decent on it. Lifegiver Lifetaker, Towers of Emptiness, & Forgive our Fathers.
But overall, the atmosphere of the album felt totally off. It felt very contrived, & not an emotive album at all like much of their catalog. Also, the fact that he played a 7 string gave it that guitar sound I do not like. Also, wasn't really too keen on his vocal approach on this album either. It felt too much like a standard metal album in my opinion. Some of my favorite Godflesh songs are "Cold World", "Slateman", "Life is Easy", & "Empyreal" for example, & I was looking for a little bit of that feel I guess. It's not a horrible album, but I never go back to it. It's definitely my least favorite in the catalog. I liked the Decline & Fall ep much better.
Godflesh is my favorite band, but this album just didn't work for me. |

That's ridiculous. Why would I nit pick something I looked forward to musically more than anything else? For the sake of it? That makes no sense. I wanted to fucking love it. I've tried several times, & it just isn't for me.
On the flipside, if anything, I'd say you're just saying you like it for the sake of it. Because to me, it clearly is subpar material in the Godflesh catalog. |

My only point is that I don't feel like its some great radical departure...its Justin doing what he does in terms of GF....I don't know,I will certainly take it over the last few jesu releases....talk about something that ran its course.... |

Oh, you can "hear" the difference between JKB playing a seven string versus a six string? I'm gonna have to straight up call bullshit there. The association you make between that instrument and a band that you enjoy (or don't enjoy) isn't about the sound, but the people playing it. Don't throw the Broadrick out with the bathwater and all that...
Anyway yeah, I agree with Doomy. |

Um yeah, it's completely obvious in the sound. I call straight up bullshit in your response. Not only is it audibly obvious, but Justin has even talked about using the 7 string. It absolutely changes the sound. Depending on what tuning you use, you can play songs written for 7-string on a 6-string, but you won't have that low, low bass string, so it won't sound the same. This is evident in the sound on the album. |

I've been way out of the loop for way too long but...
If a new Godflesh album **weren't** polarizing, they'd be doing something wrong.
Just think back. Honestly, to every record ever. Slavestate - WTF is this? Pure - Why does it sound this way? Selfless - Metal! SOLAH - God, I hate that album...
If anything, I think the last played it safe. Had a sterile feel...almost certainly its intent.
But I too love those four songs Falldown claimed and would cite them as among the band's best. Who knows...a new direction (quelle surprise!) could be right up some people's filthy, back alley.
edit: You can often tell a six-string tuned way down vs a seven-string by its sound. For the gritty shit, I tend to prefer the former. |

Only took a new album announcement to get the regulars back out of the woodwork!
Can't wait to hear it based on the description. Don't mind the last one, liked it at the time but don't go back to it a whole lot. It was still infinitely better to have it rather than nothing at all.... |

i didn't think the last one was terrible. just to me it seemed like the guys reorienting themselves to the Godflesh mode.
and i guess what i found best about them in their height was that they didn't have a mode--or not one what was predictable to me anyway.
it'd be cool if that last one did the heavy lifting of finding their collaborative footing again and this time out have their eyes set on other territories. i guess the description of the new album sounds like that's mostly the case. |

I was indifferent to the last Godflesh until a year or so after it came out, at which point it clicked for me and I love it now. It's totally stripped down, back to basics, and I can see why it may come off as a bit bland compared to the more experimental side of Godflesh. But I love how heavy and angry it is - I'm a simple creature.
Godflesh is experimental mode can be hit or miss for me... I liked a lot of scattered moments on US & Them but it's still probably the album I have revisited the least. |

I liked the last album but then again, I was just happy one of my favorite bands ever was back in full swing. The cd has been in the cd changer in my car literally since it came out (and now since my changer is broke its really not leaving) I can definitely see the complaints though. Its a bit "by the numbers". Would've fit in perfectly if it had been the follow up to Selfless. But like Matt said, they were more than likely getting settled back into being Godflesh. Playing stuff you wrote 20 years ago is easy, getting back into the mindset of creating it again takes some work. Kinda on the fence about the 8 string sound. Love that he can play a whole octave below a standard guitar, but yeah they definitely have a different sound compared to the extra grind you get from tuning a 6 string way down to A or B. That shit totally killed it live though. Saw them two days in a row on the last tour and they were on fire both nights. Probably the best they've ever sounded on stage techwise. They played a way smaller venue the second night and holy fuck was Justin's little feedback thing at the end LOUD. |

Some of the tracks on the LP that I didn't much care for absolutely killed live, and it made me appreciate the recorded versions more. I'm looking forward to a weirder, dubbier sort of record, though. |

I have a strong feeling this next album will be amazing. So, if the last one was a "getting back into the groove" type of thing, then so be it. |

Looks like the pre-release hype is working on JKB Time too, given that the LP's slated for release in just over a month and he still hasn't officially announced it. |

Awesomeness! This one sounds more like my cup of tea... I've tried to like the last album, oh I've tried. I saw them twice on tour with that album but it still didn't click for me. It's not bad, but I prefer the Decline & Fall EP. |
