yeah. that's good.

i bought the download even though it's pointless with the album coming shortly.

heavy intro with metal screams was gay. the 2nd half was more interesting and more quintessentially godflesh: minimal, rhythmically foremost. If they would have explored the 2nd half for the entire track and eschewed the 'fuckin brutal' part it would have had a shot at being good.

Not saying it's bad, but to my ears it sounds like a song that didn't make the cut for the last album. No progression, same kinda riffage and guitar parts, so not what I was expecting. Can't find those other Amazon samples but still looking forward to hearing the rest. Fingers crossed not Post Self times ten though.

I wasn't sold on Post Self on the first playthrough, but the 2nd one did it for me. Though the screams are a bit fasle, I like the way it sounds like it's going to fall apart during the opening section and the Geordie-like moody arpeggios in the middle are tasty too.

Of the short samples, I like Parasite (getting Pure vibes), Mirror of Finite Light (getting Messiah vibes - fuck yeah), Pre Self (kind of a Messiah/AWLOBF hybrid), Mortality Sorrow (I don't know what it references, but it's ominous), and In Your Shadow (damn sample cutting out before the break really hit).

Can't wait to hear the whole thing! woo

i don't get the tapes. we knew they weren't great when they were the only portable option available.

i've picked up a few in the past 10 years when it was the only format a thing came in but wasn't psyched about it.

When are they bringing 8 track back?

SO EXCITED for this release!

Really digging the production on these two tracks. Same goes for Justin's vocals. Just guttural devastation. Reminds me slightly of Us and Them in the general feel of the album. I remember once upon a time driving with my mother and had Us and Them playing. her words; "That's scary" Razz

That's the feeling I'm getting so far and it's a true delight. One of the several aspects I enjoy about Justin's music (even the stuff I'm not overly fond of) is his constant experimentation with production/emotion/instruments/vocal styles/collaborations/reinterpretations...
Even the stuff that doesn't make me swoon. I still enjoy his range. One of my favorite musicians of all time. Just in time for Winter in Alaska!!! Smile
