OK.
Other acts you may want to check out who have been released via Cold Spring include:

Streicher
(just look at the state of that discogs page )
H.E.R.R.
(featuring this guy)
Von Thronstahl
(appeared on tribute album to Leni Riefenstahl, links to NA website from his own)

and many more...

I'll be skipping this one, personally.

So, should we start abusing JKB and The Nangster about this, I am seriously tempted to ask them on facebook : "here mate, WTF is going on with dealing with this shite?".

I have messaged Justin about it on FB, but I fully expect the same results I got from other artists I have approached previously - i.e. complete blanking.

Godflesh sharing a label with proper, not-just-wearing-a-uniform-onstage, extreme rightwing/racist artists.
Though, that's not the best, apparently Crass will be releasing some stuff through CS as well, which I thought was some kind of wind up when I heard it.

Well that is unfortunate...

Very surprised about Crass...goes against the whole ethos...

Well the Crass releases are bootlegs which Penny Rimbaud has not official endorsed but has kind of gone "meh, whatever" and wrote a big rambling essay about the whole nature of intellectual property or something (here)

EDIT: and it appears they have been cancelled after the intervention of Steve Ignorant...

CS seem to be specialising in "not-quite-official" releases of deceased bands at the moment (see the recent Coil things).

Could you provide a bit more detail? I've bought from CS before, not fond of the idea of who or what I might be supporting.

Ta, elrrek. I was going to say, how much more detail would you need?

I know Mr Cold Spring from waaaaaaayyyy back in the 90s. He may have made some VERY unfortunate Artist choices but I never got the Impression that he himself had any kind of political agenda. Quite the opposite. he seemed to come more from a punk/crust background.

Allthough I haven't bought any of his releases in the last few years because of his artist rooster.

Yeah, I don't for one minute think the the people running the label are that way inclined (I've chatted to other people who knew them back in the day).
I do think they are irresponsible and are willing to indulge dodgy artists and dubious business practices for the sake of money.

I don't think there's any money in any of these artists. Most of their stuff ist still very underground-ish. My guess ist they are heavily into their dark neo-folk/industrial/electronics/whatever without giving a crap about the artists political views.

And some of that stuff isn't just dodgy, it's plain right-wing extremist shit.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive here but I really, really get pissed off when acts/people I like get involved in this sort of stuff and play the "I'm only into the music" card.

I've quit buying from shops/distros/people because of what they stock.
I've quit buying records by acts I was into because of who they played with.

If I have to do this with Godflesh I am going to very fucking annoyed.

I'm 100% with you, mate. I've skipped Skullflower albums and even a recent gig because of these associations and I think we all know how I feel about Skullflower.

In related news: this isn't actually a split EP as the original post from CS might have you believe, but JKB remixes of Khost.

Yay! It's not just me being an overreacting then Smile

The related news almost lets JKB off the hook for me to be honest. Knowing that I don't need to worry about not buying something because of dodgy associations is a relief.

I remember a couple of years ago there was a bit of a hoo-hah with the guy from Caina having done something with Krieg and then people getting upset that Caina was on a bill with A JKB related act. I exchanged some messages with the Caina guy asking him if he honestly didn't get it. The response I received resulted in me not buying anything else from that guy ever again. And now I read that The Body are doing something with Krieg ... nice. Glad I didn't think much of their music or I might get butt hurt about this too.

That was a bit dodgy advertising saying Godflesh are doing a split. It would have been weird since it's been 25 years since the loopflesh EP.

When I asked for more detail, I obviously had scrolled past chickenfish's post with just that info. Certainly disappointing and not what I'd expect.
