New stuff!!! Very Happy

Four "new" Soisong tracks from Sleazy, free to download courtesy of Ivan Pavlov. There was a roundabout way to try to "discover" these tracks online, but assuming you can't be bothered, here's the direct page. It's great stuff.

http://www.soisong.com/S012PLIT/index.html

There is also a new Soisong EP from COH (Pavlov solo) available to buy.

Thanks! I gave up on that homepage. Couldnt find it!

For a nominal fee, Danny Hyde has coughed up 11 unreleased Coil remixes of Nine Inch Nails.

Links to torrents and Mediafire are in this thread:
http://www.echoingthesound.org/community/threads/1237-Nine-Inch-Nails-Uncoiled-Lost-remixes-of-Nine-Inch-Nails-songs-by-Coil

They seem to be getting the thumbs up, though I've not listened to them myself yet.

Nice one!
Really cool to hear these Coil works in progress after all these years.

And despite the overload of terribly bad lyrics I've always enjoyed listening to NIN. Reznor has some great songwriting and sound design skills imho.

I think it's not coil, coil are cool. this is not cool at all. brainwashed brainwash.

I was also not impressed by this. There was probably a reason why this was never released Smile

All of you guys getting excited about TM2 should listen to what Jon Whitney has to say about it:

Jon Whitney wrote:
man behind TM2 is a fraud.
his whole story of Sleaz Last Will is a lie.
i mentioned it almost two years ago here on the list.

support Jon Whitney not Jordi 'Gollum' Devas

and:

Jon Whitney wrote:
Hi,

That's a great question but you're the only one who can answer that. It's on your own conscience to download and share the music or not.

The fact is that Geff and Sleaz are dead. Despite anybody else's involvement in Coil, it was their vehicle, they were the core, they drove the ship, it was their ideology and persistence that made Coil what Coil was and what we all love. Nobody else can do that, not any past members or fanboys who ride on their coattails or name all their albums after memes that Geff or Sleaz invented.

I am the only person authorized to reissue the material. This was an arrangement Peter and I had ironed out before he died. Nobody else is authorized. This means that all other releases are unauthorized, no matter what their claims are.

Peter's last email to me during the month he died was from Bologna, telling me that he will send artwork necessary for the reissues once he gets home and has a chance, as things were busy with the TG and Gen split. I have a paper trail of actual written and signed pieces of paper, an email trail, and plenty of close friends of his and band members who can back these statements up.

I am still working on the exhaustive project of remastering and reissuing all Coil material but, as you can guess, there have been plenty of road blocks along the way, but I am working through them, with help from others, to the best of my (and everyone else's) ability.

Peter, as many of his close friends on this list will attest, didn't always PAY for the software he used, so why should he turn around and argue that downloading his music should be prevented? He also HATED iTunes and MP3s and believed they never gave the full experience of owning a Coil CD or LP and listening start to finish a truly "quality controlled" Coi
I am not behind Time Machine II, no.

And besides, this is not a COIL release, anyhow.

I have nothing to do with Peter's involvement in Throbbing Gristle or X-TG, SoiSong, Psychic TV, or any non-COIL entity (but you can continue to regard ELpH, Black Light District, etc, as COIL entities).

Hope that helps.

Jon

three or four weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night with coil playing one of their tracks exclusively in my head, and that was fucking LOUD. and that after two or three years of not listening to coil, or almost not listening to coil (I don't care that much about ambient-related music in general anymore).

I especially appreciate both Muzick... releases, early stuff (solar lodge sounds almost like early swans <3), and this track, in particular:

watching this makes me feel great about not being in mother Russia anymore. every time. it's so... massively gay! like Kremlin stars, or evil dwarfs!

nhtp wrote:

in this case, you can teach me danish! in fact, you can teach me danish in any case, as long as you have time for that, don't mind doing that, and don't mind me answering in [sometimes lame] norwegian.

and I was stupid enough to give that track another chance. it's not even massively gay. it's gay in a non-coil sense of the word. I don't believe it was recorded by coil.

All I can say is, I saw the link and wondered about it. I checked brainwashed's old discog of unreleased/unheard shit - which says they did do something for a release of that name. Is that them? dunno, is it shit? yeah, it's pretty bad.

as for TM2, well... if it's completed or even 'mostly completed' (ie, outtakes/demo stuff) I'd love to hear it. As for a battle over who profits? *sigh* I don't know the individuals there (Jordi or Jon) to have an opinion on it. It's the same deal on reissues really... I know after the Hendrix family drama discography mess, that it's a nasty place to be.

Jon Whitney didn't write that, it was someone else on the Coil list entirely.

The usual channels are awash with rumour, accusations and slanders. All I know is Jon Whitney is convinced he is the only person allowed to re-issue Coil material (as he was working on doing that with Sleazy before his death). He has no involvement in any non-Coil or unreleased/unfinished Coil-related stuff.

Jordi Devas was the executor of Peter's estate, as Ian Johnstone was of John's.

It all appears to be getting a bit unsavoury, but it's hard to pass judgement on a few vague messages posted on the interweb. I hope of all involved it's still with Jon Whitney, he'll do right by the boys.

As for Sara Dales Sensual Massage, it is indeed Coil and it is indeed shit. A soundtrack for a cheapo cheesy video production. It was a genuine paid commission back in the day. I'm fairly sure I've seen the vid posted up somewhere before but doesn't look like I saved it.

The SOS tracks on this just got re-released as a cd and single sided 12", t-shirts, duvet cover, wallpaper etc by soleilmoon if anyone is interested. I picked it up. If you don't know it, get on soulseek or whatever and check it. Not to be missed.

Yeah they're on the first Unnatural History. I've got them on an original 12" pressing, wonder if the "remastering" job would make it worth getting it again?

Ah, it may not have been remastered, that was just an assumption on my part.

Have the original and didn't know about the soleilmoon pressing till it showed up in my discogs feed a couple days ago which of course was too late for the limited red version. I probably don't need more coil vinyl but i want it anyways.

What's all this then?

Let it be known, after paying you are informed:
Quote:

Due to changing elements and heavy weight package and packing. The postage will have to be accurately calculated when the records arrive at base. European/world orders will be re invoiced a small increase for shipping. But it will be accurately fair. And any buyer will be able to opt out at this point if not happy and get full refund .

Hopefully mine won't have to be reinvoiced since when I pre-ordered, I already paid 8 pounds for shipping even though it now appears to be only 4 pounds.
I received the FLAC for the fourth track a couple of days ago, but I'm not sure if he's doing that for the rest of the orders?

Brainwashed Archives is the only establishment that has been authorized to reissue COIL music from the vaults.

All other materialization of COIL music: physical, digital, ether, or any other form from this point onward should be regarded as unauthorized.

There is a trail of conversations from electronic and snail mail to back this up and much more information will be revealed in due time.

"Backwards was started in London directly after LSO, move to New Orleans, developed a lot, moved back to Weston, and thence to Bangkok. Brainwashed will be releasing one or maybe two cd collections documenting this history later in the year, and these along with all other demos and recordings of any interest,..."

- Peter Christopherson, May 2010

Here is the preliminary list of releases in the pipeline:
(catalog numbers subject to change)

catalog number and album

BATH01 Scatology (4xCD with Transparent, The Angelic Conversation, and demos)
BATH02 Horse Rotorvator (4xCD with Gold is the Metal and outtakes from both albums)
BATH03 Love's Secret Domain (4xCD with Stolen and Contaminated Songs and outtakes)
BATH04 Worship the Glitch, A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room, Time Machines (plus 4th CD of oddities from 1995-1998)
BATH05 The New Orleans Backwards (4xCD with demos, Ape, and TNB)
BATH06 Astral Disaster (3xCD with LP version, CD version, and outtakes)
BATH07 Musick to Play in the Dark (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Queens, Constant Shallowness)
BATH08 ANS
BATH09 Black Antlers (4xCD with Remote Viewer, outtakes)

each will be professionally remastered and issued with previously unreleased material and enhanced content

catalog number and single

BATHS01 How To Destroy Angels
BATHS02 Panic
BATHS03 The Anal Staircase
BATHS04 The Wheel
BATHS05 Hellraiser
BATHS06 Wrong Eye
BATHS07 Windowpane
BATHS08 The Snow
BATHS09 How To Destroy Angels
BATHS10 Airborne Bells
BATHS11 Blue/The Sound of Musick
BATHS12 Nasa Arab
BATHS13 Protection
BATHS14 pHILM #1
BATHS15 Heartworms
BATHS16 Spring Equinox
BATHS17 Summer Solstice
BATHS18 Autumn Equinox
BATHS19 Winter Solstice
BATHS20 Zwolf
BATHS21 I Don't Want to Be The One
BATHS22 Moon's Milk Bonus
BATHS23 The Restitution of Decayed Intelligence

each will be professionally remastered and include compilation tracks, other non-LP and compilation tracks, enhanced content, and be housed in a replica sleeve
a boxed set is planned

Please note, at this time there is no plan to release any compilations, such as updated versions of the Unnatural History series. Instead, non-album music will appear on the singles where chronologically appropriate.

Free downloads are also anticipated of other versions which simply will not fit and may only be mildly alternate but should serve for any completist.

It was the expressed permission of the artist that iTunes not be used. All requests of the artist will remain in effect.

WTF? The album releases have totally changed since yesterday.
Yesterday it was double LPs all the way, now it's CD boxes Rolling Eyes

As someone on the Coil list suggested, it would be nice to have the unreleased/outtake/etc stuff released in its own boxset, for those of us who already have all the albums and don't want to have to buy them all again.

Agreed. I reckon there will be enough people in the same boat to warrant a release of the non-released stuff. I certainly won't be spending a fortune on stuff I've got already.

I don't think there will be much actual previously unavailable stuff, I think stuff like the LSD Demos, the Scatology Demos, the Backwards Demos, the Songs Of The Week and stuff like that will make up the majority of the bonus unreleased discs. Basically all the old boots. A few new songs would be nice though.

I've hunted down all the official released compliation material that I could find (a sort-of Unnatural 4, if you will).

I'm happy to see some reissues of this kinda stuff, but considering there was the thighpaulsandra remastered editions of Scat/Roto/LSD, and Stolen/Gold already exist this just seems like overkill. Not that there isn't some stuff I'd want: Backwards demos... full quality versions of the stuff from Songs of the Week [that didn't get already released] but it's gonna be totally on price point.

I hate seeing singles reissued seperately, because it defeats the purpose of doing boxed sets by era as well. If it's the single from that record, why is it not included with the collected sessions for that record. Just to sell another catalog item? since the format is basically dead, it feels bad man. I feel that way bout the upcoming Killing Joke singles box too. The only upside is full sized artwork.

No listing for any of the live releases?

No digital sales info?

New fans usually don't start with boxed set editions of material - they start with the classic albums. Which means this IS targeted only at collectors. Even a lovingly rendered thoughtful reissue series can feel like a slap to the face if it means re-buying stuff you already own.

I'm guessing TM2: The Legacy is still coming but will be considered a 'bootleg' by one party or another.

Embarassed Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but the Brainwashed - Coil site mentions that, as of January 2013, many of the live shows are now available for FREE on archive.org!!!!

If you go to the chronological listing of Coil concerts, there are a good number of FREE ones listed (many of the ones included in the CSO box).

Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Totally new to me.....

http://mutant-sounds.blogspot.com/2013/02/coilelphlee-ranaldo-frisk-original.html

Downloading as I type this... will report later.

LATER:
Hmmmmm. Not quite what the description places it as. Seems more like the "Songs of the Week" hastily thrown together in a pile.

Was posted on the Coil list a few days ago and was going to post about it here once I'd found the time to download and listen, but thanks for beating me to it!

Still haven't managed to listen to it yet by the way!

Then, I found this....
