Just as I had decided not to spend more money on music this year:

Quote:
TM2 by Peter Christopherson is now available for pre-order here.

Way back in November of 2010 the designs and plans for Time Machines II were in discussion before the unexpected and sad news reached us of Sleazy's passing.

For some time nothing happened and the plans were left aside whilst stock was taken.

It was agreed that completing the project would be fitting, with money from the sale of the finished product going directly to The SET Foundation, a charity based in Thailand helping underprivileged children get an education from primary school all the way to graduating university.

Various scholarships In Peter's name have already been set up to achieve this with the Foundation which you can see here - http://www.thaistudentcharity.org
After several attempts to realise the product in the way Sleazy had imagined we finally found a perfect partner, working with pewter, who was able to create something very special, a sample of which you can see below.

The finished product will be shipping early in the New Year and we'll be sending updates to all pre-order customers as the elements come together.

Thanks,
Adrian Pike
(On Behalf of Threshold House)

"Remember we are all only temporary curators of our present bodies, which will all decay, sooner or later. In a hundred years or so ALL the humans currently alive will have died. I take great comfort in knowing, with certainty, that thing that makes us special, able to enrich our own lives and those of others, will not cease when our bodies do, but will be just starting a new (and hopefully even better) adventure...
If we don't get to meet in this Life, maybe in the next you can buy me a beer! ,-) "

Sad

Can't afford. Even if I could, I wouldn't pay a premium for a USB stick. Hope it's available as a non premium, cheap dl at some point.

Fuck it. Really disappointed with the notion of releasing it as a USB. I mean, how can a USB stick be "special". Still, I couldn't bring myself to not buy it. It's likely to be our last hurrah with the Coil boys, so what the hey.

So Time Machines 2 arrived last week. My initial issues with a USB release were wiped out when I saw it. One of the loveliest "object" releases I've ever bought. The concept and the execution are amazing.

The music is stunning too. Not quite a direct follow up to Time Machines, TM2 is more varied, not strictly drone. Odd little off kilter and sometimes sinister melodies tinkle away in the background under the electronic noise. Even a few beats sneak in at one point. If this is the last hurrah then Sleazy has gone out with quite a bang/buzz/fizzle/screech/hum.

Granted the approach of this is different for sure - I feel like it's certainly worthy.

I think the first track is well... not good. It just never coalesces for me. Track 2 is major improvement over it in all ways and is still the next worst track. That said I think the rest of it 3-7 are fucking ace and I totally enjoy the headspace they put me in.

Track 4 is the one that was on Andrew Lahmen's boredcast as unreleased/untitled.

I think the whole point of the first track is that it never coalesces. It meanders along with tempo changes strewn willy nilly. It's quite unsettling, it's a bit creepy and you never quite understand what it's supposed to be doing and where it's going. I like it.

Hmm, I've had Loves Secret/Septic Demise for donkeys years but hadn't heard about this latest clean up of it. It'll be nice to have a professionally put together version. Nice one, thanks!

I did not have that. Can't wait to sit down for a listen.

I really really hope the reissues see the light of day.

These excerpts sound fucking GREAT. Totally psyched for this. Does Death come alone, or with eager reinforcements?

Also very curious why this was never released at the time. I was so very eagerly anticipating it at the time.

Did I not send you that like 2 years ago Josh?

and, I'll pass along what Danny Hyde said about it's non-release - record execs (Interscope home of Nothing) wanted Peter to be signed to exclusive video production with them.

Peter had said something about labels execs in the past.

Nice to see the "official" release tho.

I'm ambivalent about the legitimacy of some of this stuff.

Great news... That Anal Staircase reissue looks essential.

They all look essential. And I'm glad the singles/ep collections are coming first as that is where the holes are in my collection.

The Angelic Conversation sounds VERY interesting indeed. I've got it but to have it be JUST the music is something I'm very excited about.

I just ordered them all from Forced Exposure. I was in the process of ordering them and the website went bye-bye. I'll try again in a few.

Ordered Wheel, Anal Staircase, and Tainted Love from Forced Exposure. Got them 3 days later which was nice. So far i am loving them all. HR is one if my favorite albums and hearing all of the demos from that era is amazing. I'll probably d/l the rest when they get leaked and figure out what other ones to buy from there. But well worth the $10/each.

Am I the only that's a bit disappointed that they are in cardboard sleeves and there's no track listings included (at least on the 5 I ordered)?

Really??? I was thinking about ordering some. If all they are is a cardboard sleeve I'm surprised they didn't offer a digital download.

Yes, every one is a cardboard sleeve with no track lists. Wonder what cat #'s T-ARCH 001-003 are going to be. What was released so far starts with 004.

Just got these in the post. Listened to Panic and now halfway through The Wheel. These are great. The unreleased stuff is great to hear and some of it is is fantastic. Some is obviously studio sketches/works-in-progress but still wonderful to hear. I feel these are essential additions to the catalog.

Don't understand being disappointed in the packaging. I actually like that there is, literally, no info on these. Not even an artist or title. Also, these are the singles and if Brainwashed follows the original plan there should be (hopefully) a box for all of them at some point. Maybe that will have the info? And for the price, they can't be beat. All are roughly an hour or so long. It's not like there was much more artwork for these originally. I think the catalog numbers 1-3 will be Scatology, Horse and LSD (with tons of bonus stuff if the orig plan is kept with) based on the fact that these are all the singles up through LSD (though How To Destroy Angels is conspicuously absent). Angelic Conversation seems like an odd choice not fitting with the rest but it is period specific and not an album per-se.

Just the bonus stuff on The Wheal is totally worth it (as I listen to it right now). I can't wait to get to the Side Effects stuff (gotta listen in order ya see).

I'm guessing the first three T-Arch titles are Scat, Horse and GOLD not LSD.

So far the only disappointment is Anal Staircase not having the Relentless Mix - it's the LP mix, unless I'm just too tired to properly A/B the tracks this afternoon.

That said The Wheel is surprisingly my favorite right now.

Hopefully this is just a warm-up/funding drive for the main event.

I'm no particular fan of Jon Whitney, but my gut tells me he is the most likely person to actually get the back catalogue back out there again in a sensible way.
