Next month me and a mate are going over to Dublin to see sunnO)), hopefully with Justin in the band, and I've been wondering are the any Avalanchers in Dublin who can recommend anything to do after the gig, and any decent record shops to have a look around the next day before we come home?

Thanks...

I've been gone for a couple of years now, so some may have disappeared, and some may have popped up, but here are a few decent record shops...

Road Records: Good selection of alternative, indie, noise, some electronica, etc. Can't remember the street name but it's up the road from Hogans on George Street.

Freebird: On the quays near O'Connell Bridge, downstairs from the Bus Stop newsagent. Big selection of alternative, electronic, loadsa stuff really. The second hand stuff is always worth a flick through.

Spindizzy: Georges Street Arcade, worth a look.

Sound Cellar: If it's metal you're after this is the place to go. It's been around as long as I can remember. On the corner of Nassau St and Grafton St.

There are loads of little dance specialist shops around the place, some better than others. There's one in Crown Alley that I remember was quite good.

As for what to do after the gig, it's Dublin, you won't have trouble finding a pub!

I'm sure Alan can point out a few more record shops...

Blipseed has it covered on the record shop front.
What used to be Comet records in Temple Bar is now a metal shop called Sentinel Records - good selection of stuff.
The gig is on a Tuesday night so there won't really be a whole lot going on afterwards.
Anything in particular you're looking to see/do?

Thanks for the replies guys - very helpful.

Nothing in particular that we were planning on seeing/doing - to be honest I think a few drinks then some sleep will be the best idea, especially if we want to go record shopping the next day.
Last time I came to Dublin we stayed in Temple Bar and only had one day in the city, seems it's a one-day style trip again.
Going to have to visit for longer next time, because from what I remember of it last time it seems like a cool place, and it's less than an hour away from Liverpool, and it's cheaper to fly there than it is for me to get a cab into Liverpool city centre!
I ended up in some pub that had the mirrored Thin Lizzy backdrop on the wall last time haha!

Comet is closed! Thank christ for that! I've never seen a record shop go down the tubes as quickly as that place. I used to spend a good hour a week in there for years, until your man turned it into a bargain basement Irish souvenir CD shitehole. Must remember to check out the new surroundings next time I'm in town.

the one in cork went the same route and was co-run by one of the most arrogant wankers you'd ever come across. i had a chance to send him down a flight of concrete steps one night with a kick in the arse ... but didnt.
