Easy solution to this conundrum:

1. ask Michael Stipe (Josh-yogapants) which console he has/favours.
2. buy the other one.

Also:

if <josh_has_wii>
perform be-annoyed
perform buy-one-anyway
else
perform buy-a-wii
endif

I still like the stuff NIN and Front Line Assembly did for Quake I and II.

It's a multiplayer fps in voxel graphics. You can build bunkers & bridges, dig tunnels & trenches etc. Mods and maps are supported. It's free and in still in beta.

Did FLA do Quake II??
I still say Quake 1 is probably the best thing Trent Reznor ever did next to The Downward Spiral. I was stoked the day I figured out I could pop my cd into the stereo and listen to it hehe..

Quake II.. That was the first video game that actually scared me and made me jump. Was up late one night playing with my headphones on (so mom didnt wake up to the sounds of a rocket launcher going off all night) and on one of the stages one of those big ol' cyber dudes comes out of the shadows and smacks me and yells TRESPASSER! Fucking jumped out of my chair right then and there. Fuck that game was rad Im gonna go run through both of em again this week.

I wish the Nail Gun had made its way to Quake 3. The ammo boxes with the NIN logo on em were pretty rad.

Ah nope my bad, FLA did Quake III Arena. I still have the mp3's but they're fairly low quality. I loved the first Quake and i agree, its among the best stuff Trent has done.

Finished Professor Layton and the Last Spectre (DS) a couple of days ago. Now and then I pop in Harvest Moon: Magical Melody (annoyingly drawn out IMO) or Super Mario Galaxy (great, great stuff but the controls can be a bit wonky when traversing small planets). Or Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles when my bro comes over - if you have a Wii be sure to check it out, even if you don't care about Resident Evil this has a great, long co-op story. We were playing for about 3 hours and didn't even get halfway...

On PC I pop in Battlefield 3 or Just Cause 2 or whatever I really think about at that time (thanks to Steam).

Waiting patiently for the new Zelda game, looks amazing.

Yeah, I'm a nerd.

That reminds me I still have to finish Zelda Twilight Princess before the new one comes out! Last time I played it a few months ago, I was in the temple up in the sky (which is a big tower with no floor so you have to hookshot your way to the top), and fell off of like the 8th floor alllllll the way to the bottom so I put it down and quit for awhile since it was going to take me forever to get back up to where I was.

Hey Drought have you seen Super Mario Galaxy 2?? I thought the first one was a trip but the second one is insane!! The Mario games were always the ones that made the most of the insides of every Nintendo console.

Nah, just started the first one but I've heard that the second one is great too. Mario has been hit-and-miss for me so I'm not really rushing into the games. I loved Super Mario Sunshine but for example Super Mario 64 DS or New Super Mario Bros didn't catch me at all... Still, Galaxy is pretty wicked though I've only invested an hour or so into it.

The campaign of battlefield 3. I loved Battlefield Bad Company 2 but if you're not into online multiplayer (like me) then this is piss poor and probably the buggiest game I've ever played. Fuck Quick Time Events.

Oh don't, there's one I'm stuck on - not sure what number it is but it's after the whole off-piste bit and then back to the chambers, there's a cube up on a shelf and another cube up on another shelf, one of those trippy gloopy tunnels and basically I CAN'T DO IT Crying or Very sad

I always wanted this as a kid but never got it and now Im glad I didnt.
Single most ridiculously tough RPG ever.

I dont know how people put up with it in 1981, I wouldve thrown my Apple IIe out the window.
Almost done with it though..

went to see friends play at a VG convention this past weekend--was tempted by the multitudes of impressive booth displays to give into a current gen system again... the evil, but so pretty time-suck.

i think the Bioshock guys were there--as they have a studio just south of Boston. The biggest displays seemed to be for Rockstar games and some "Borderlands 2" game.

I heard the Sword and Sworcery guys were there too--the one game I have really played and enjoyed this year (well, last)--but couldn't find them in the throng.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

Who, the developers behind Bioshock? I would love to meet them and pick there brains about how they came up with their ideas. I'm really looking forward to Bioshock: Infinite, can't wait to see were they are going to take the story this time now that they have left the undersea dystopia of Rapture behind.

I've just downloaded and started playing Iron Brigade on the XBox 360. Thus far its turned out to be a really enjoyable mech/tower defense shooter with a good, quircky story.

yeah--the Bioshock developers.

I asked one of the animators for Bioshock that very question--not at the gaming convention--but at a comic book one some months back--he said something along the lines that the main guy reads a lot - a lot of history i think he said.

i had seen a trailer for the new game before the comic convention--where the action is focused on flying around some kind of rail system in the sky? it looked nuts and i mentioned i had seen it to this guy and apparently he had done all or most of the scenes i was talking about. the guy looked like he was 25 years old at best. of course i wanted to kill him and suck in his talent, highlander-style.

Sniper Ghost Warrior. This got awful reviews and I can see why, but some of the sniping bits are great, especially the head shots.
