So, I am sitting here in my studio trying to concentrate on a track and feel like I'm being baked in a hundred degree oven, and it's been like this since May.

Summer fucking sucks.

I'm moving to Antarctica.

I'd always rather be cold than too hot. Apart from when I'm too cold. On those occasions I'd give anything to be too hot. We haven't had a summer this year. There was a few days in May when the sun came out but other than that it's been endless rain and mild temperatures. Pish.

I am looking forward to that, actually. Having sun year long is overrated. I am moving next month and looking forward to a new climate where I don't feel like a bug underneath a magnifying glass.

The drought here in the states is horrendous. Hundred degree days in Chicago and I have heard that the East Coast has been miserable this year. Really makes you appreciate fall and spring, that's for sure.

31 degrees today here. I can deal with the heat but only for a couple of days.

Living in Antartica would be cool.
As long as Kurt Russell doesn't turn up.

We've only had one week of summer here....the rest has been rain, rain, rain. It's like a rainy season is slowly developing in western Europe.

Any way, because I'm of Scandinavian origin I highly appreciate the woes of winter. But the regular 2 months of summer come as a welcome change of atmosphere usually. I'd rather have winter than constant rain though.

I couldn't agree more! Like Savier has said we have only had a few days of intense heat here in blighty buts thats more than enough for me. At least if its cold you can put more layers on.

If its not the intense heat giving me migraines its the fucking hayfever doing my head in! Sad

haha true that. I guess what I'm really trying to say is:

The rainy season, In Japan for example where I spent some time, was during the first summer month but at least it was warm. It didn't really matter that you got wet, it was actually refreshing.
In Belgium we usually have rain throughout fall and spring, we just have to live with that. But now it was like a rainy season in June and July, but it wasn't hot either (like 10-15 degrees)...so it was the worst of both worlds.

One of the few things I still like about Seattle is that we've got the mildest weather in the country. We've had one week of sunny between 70-80 F this summer, but it's mostly been between 60-70 F and overcast.

It looks like there's another week of sunny and 70-80 F coming up, so that should be nice. Smile

There are many things that I enjoy about living where I am in central Europe right now but one of them IS NOT when the temperature is regularly above 25 degree centigrade.

In my home country the average yearly temperature is about 12 degress C which suits me fine.

I'm not thrilled with some of the heat waves here in NYC, but it's somewhat typical and we seem to be lucky in that we get 4 or 5 days on and then some nice moderate temperatures where it's still sunny (a lot of times the breaks we tend to get during heat waves are just a humid rainy mess).

I've definitely experienced worse but that doesn't mean it's any less annoying when it's 97 and 100% humidity.

One benefit of the severe drought we're experiencing in the Midwest is that I haven't had to mow the yard for something like 8 or 9 weeks now!

Nothing but brown crunchy grass all over my acre lot. Even some of our older, more established trees are starting to show signs of water stress (leaf loss, etc.)

I am over this fucking heat! I wish it would rain for two days straight. I'm just glad that the air conditioner works. No air conditioner + living upstairs would suck (and it did last year when the AC unit kept failing.) I had to take 3 cold showers a day just to stay (semi) sane.

Sorry mate, out of all the Avalanchers here, I believe I'm the one living closest to Antarctica and it's still pretty damned cold down these parts this time of year. So for you I give you a big BOO HOO!!!!
Wink

Just joking, I prefer the cold than the hot as well and it's hard get to anything done when it's too hot. Still this old timer feels the cold a lot more nowadays. Autumn is definitely my favourite season.

I have one thing to say to those people that say we are "miserable twonks" when we have a complaint about the heat:

Come here when it's 110 Fahrenheit with a 125 heat index and a dew point of 75.

If you think those are comfortable conditions for any human then you are fucking insane.

This. Except for the humidity. This summer continues to suck more than the last Pelican record, or their entire discography combined for that matter. 2012 the summer of suck. Maybe in a week or two things will change for me, but until then fuck this summer bullshit.

Lived through plenty of scorchingly dry Aussie, and blistering Brasilian summers. Currently living through the Hanoi summer which regularly hit 38c and feels like 40+ c due to humidity.

So, hit the beach, or a pool, find a nice place to grab a cool drink and admire the ladies walking by (if you don't have one on your arm). Summer is fun, fun, fun!

I don't live near a beach. I hate public pools and my fat ass is not getting into a bathing suit. I don't drink and there is no lesbian scene here. Even if there was one, I don't think that I could find one that likes Anal Cunt and Japanese Noise.

I have to say I do have a bit of sympathy for New Yorkers. I've spent Australian summers in Victoria (45C and scorchingly dry heat) and the Northern Territory (high 30s and 95% humidity), and yet one of the most uncomfortable two weeks I've ever had was during a New York summer in an apartment with no AC. Incredibly hot and muggy. We played football in Central park one day for an hour and my t-shirt was so wet through I had to pop into Walmart to buy a new one.

Sydney at the moment is a bit chilly at night and in the early mornings but very pleasant during the day, and it's the middle of Winter here. Can't complain.

seconded. with an ASR10 which is known for it high running temp and all outboard stuff in a 8x10 room.... there's a small window of time between 12am and 6am IF the humidity is below %50. im better with summer now than in my hardcore tweeking days when sounds of lawnmowers and children playing would bring out the psychopath in me.
I am actually pretty concerned with climate change, considering this is the new normal. sad to say though the limepit's already been dug.

This. NYC, if you're not right by the actual ocean, does not have enough of a breeze in the summer to alleviate the stifling humidity. The river doesn't cool worth a damn.

My perfect summer would be 24-27C, humidity never over 60%, and a slight breeze. Anything more and I reserve the right to complain like 2 Live Jews.

All that said, I have been feeling winters more as I get older, as someone else noted. Disappointing, because one of my favorite things in high school was to go to the beach in the winter for how visceral it was.
